At Villa Monastero is preserved at the library dedicated scholar Giovanni Polvani.
Giovanni Polvani (1892-1970), professor of experimental physics at the University of Milan and President of the Italian Society of Physics from 1948 to 1961, was chairman of the National Research Council and rector of the University of Milan.
He was founder of the International School of Physics of that held in Varenna Villa Monastero on the courses starting from 1953. It is still active and active, took part today and part of the greatest scholars of the physical world, including, in 1954, the great physicist Enrico Fermi who here gave one of his last lectures.
Polvani was well with Giberto Bosisio, President of the Provincial Administration of Como, one of the founders and supporters dell'Ente Villa Monastero, a body that manages the Villa until this step under the Provincial Administration of Lecco in 1996 .
The Library is kept here by volumes of scientific argument and physical, available on request.
The Villa is also exposed some texts, publications and writings of John Polvani autographs.
A room located in front of the Villa, is dedicated to this important personage in the world of physics, and is currently used for conferences and congresses.
Were so respected the will of Dr. Marco de Marchi who had left the property of Villa Monastero, having acquired in 1925, to be used for public enjoyment. He had personally stated that "The buildings of the villa and outbuildings should be used for Museums, Libraries and Cultural Institutions of the public."

The Documentation Center collects all the material that refers to the Villa Monastero, collected and sorted by the institution Villa Monastero. There are acts of meetings, reports, publications and the press release explaining the business of the decade from 1996 that manages the Villa.
