Villa Monastero is, on the shores of Lake Como, one of the most interesting examples of eclectic style home in which the restructurings of the late nineteenth century and of the early twentieth century have added functional and decorative elements without destroying the traces of past events of the building, so as to obtain a villa with garden of great appearance.

The Province of Lecco, has recently  bought the Villa, after being on loan management on behalf of the National Research Council (CNR) since 1995. This implies a strong commitment for the development and growth of its prestige.

For this reason we are defining the most appropriate steps to achieve the recognition as "Botanical Garden", thanks to the presence of native and exotic trees of considerable interest, which have also been studied by the Fondazione Minoprio.

In 2003 Villa Monastero obtained the title of "House Museum", thanks to its artistic treasures, the presence of restored furniture and the original historical context. In relation to its function as a house museum, has been projected itineraries for schools, who come to visit this abode, implementing the number of visitors exceeding thirty thousand per year.

Villa Monastero is also a popular conference centre: in fact, it has a room dedicated to the Nobel Prize winner Enrico Fermi who held here some lessons; there are also a room dedicated to the physicist Giovanni Polvani, promoter of the convention center in the fifties, with windows that overlook the lake and from which you can enjoy a wonderful view, and a room with garden view furnished with antique furniture but functional with a space of thirty seats; finally there is a multimedia room equipped with ten computers.

The Institution Villa Monastero is certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2000
