A record year for Villa Monastero

2023 was a record year for Villa Monastero of Varenna: it welcomed more than 250.000 visitors, more precisely 257.292 people.

This record is very significant because Villa Monastero was closed from January to March 2023 due to the requalification works of the building and the roof. The botanical Garden reopened on 1° of April, and the House Museum reopened on 28 May.

American, German, French, English, and Spanish were the most present nationalities in Villa Monastero. Also, the Australians were numerous. Significant presence of visitors from Eastern Europe and Asia.

In 2023, Villa Monastero welcomed 51 weddings/private events (in 2022 36), 33 wedding proposals (in 2022 23), 8 conferences (in 2022 11), 255 photo services and fashion shootings/video recordings (in 2022 253).

On 6 November 2023, Villa Monastero closed to allow the botanical Garden requalification works, and safety and plant engineering works. The Villa Monastero reopening is planned for March 2024.
