On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September, the GEP – European Heritage Days return, the largest and most widely attended cultural event in Europe, promoted by the Council of Europe and the European Commission, and coordinated in Italy by the Ministry of Culture.

The theme of the 2025 edition is Architecture: the Art of Building, which is the translation of Heritage and Architecture: Windows to the Past, Doors to the Future, the slogan chosen by the Council of Europe and shared by the participating countries.

It is an invitation to reflect on the cultural value of the built environment that surrounds us, and an opportunity to rediscover architecture as a living expression of the history, culture, and aspirations of communities—both Italian and European.

The Province of Lecco is taking part in this initiative with the Villa Monastero Museum, offering a guided tour led by curator Anna Ranzi for the first 30 visitors who arrive at the loggia near the ticket office on Saturday 27 September at 11:00 AM.

The tour will take place in the 19th-century botanical garden, where visitors can learn about the architectural and sculptural furnishings restored through the PNRR project.

The event coincides with the initiative Ville Aperte in Brianza – Autumn Edition, which last weekend welcomed around 5,000 visitors who enjoyed the garden and the House Museum on late-summer days.

The initiative includes discounted entry to Villa Monastero: €7 for access to the Botanical Garden; €9 for access to both the Botanical Garden and the House Museum.
