On Sunday 8 October, Villa Monastero held the initiative The Chess Villa, promoted by the Province of Lecco with the collaboration of the Circolo scacchistico Boris Spassky of Lecco.

The day was a success: young people, parents, team captains and referees, were very enthusiastic about the place and the initiative.

In the morning, the conference Gli Scacchi in età scolare (Chess in school-age) was held in sala Fermi. Alessandra Hofmann, the President of the Province of Lecco, opened the meeting and welcomed the initiative. Then, Nicola Gerundino, the President of the Circolo scacchistico Boris Spassky of Lecco, told curious and interesting anecdotes about chess with Di che cosa parliamo quando parliamo di scacchi (What we talk about when we talk about chess).

Marta Frizzi, educator, and Cristina Oltramonti, psychologist, took part in the conference and spoke about Gli scacchi e la matematica (chess and mathematics) and Gli scacchi in età scolare (chess at school age).

At the end of the meeting, the interview with Paolo Delmastro took place. He wrote the thriller novel Il primo cassetto in basso.

The first part of the day was dedicated to the free game of chess in the botanical Garden. The afternoon was dedicated to the tournament Mini Champions Chess Liga addressed to players under 14 with the supervision of a federal chess referee.
