HISTORICAL RECORD FOR VILLA MONASTERO: MORE THAN 150.000 VISITORS FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR

The number of guests had an important growth also during August and Villa Monastero has reached 151.389 visitors from the beginning of the year.

The Provincia di Lecco, to celebrate this important achievement, has decided to offer to the 160.000° guest the opportunity to overnight in Villa Monastero with another person.

Ville aperte in Brianza

On 17th and 18th September, on 24th and 25th September and on 1st and 2nd October from 9.30 to 19.30.

Villa Monastero will be exceptionally open until 22.00 to celebrate the European Heritage Days on Saturday 24th September.

Fees: Botanical garden 5 €; Botanical Garden + House Museum 10 €; guided tour (in Italian only) in Villa Monastero 10 € (upon reservation). Musical performance in Villa Monastero – MedFest, Medieval festival: chants of the Cistercian monasteries with the vocal ensemble “Ensemble Antiqua Laus” on Saturday 10th September at 18:00. The performance will be preceded by a guided tour (in Italian only) with Anna Ranzi, the curator of Villa Monastero. For information and reservations: www.medfestlombardia.com

The Lake Como Host event (invitation-only) is promoted by “Associazione Ospiti per Casa – Host Club Sondrio/Valtellina” in co-organization with the Provincia di Lecco and will take place on Wednesday 28th September from 17:00 to 20:00. The event will be preceded by a guided tour with Anna Ranzi, the curator of Villa Monastero.

Sorridi è gratis! (Smile is free!) is an exhibition promoted by “Fondazione Opera Don Bosco onlus” in co-organization with the Provincia di Lecco. Vernissage-day on 7th October. From 8th October to 23rd October: exhibition of pictures with photos of children, youth and adults taken by the photojournalist Enrico Mascheroni during his experience with the Foundation in Ethiopia, Eritrea and the Philippines. The panels are accompanied by short captions.

F@mu – International Family Day at the Museum: initiatives for children and families are planned on 9th October.

In the Sala Fermi it is possible to observe three important art works: an important painting dated mid-sixteenth century and depicting an unusual Eucaristic Allegory, entrusted from the “Fondazione Comunitaria del Lecchese”, and two important paintings belonging to the second half of the eighteenth century, recently donated.

In the entrance hall near the staircase of the Villa it is possible to admire a rare piece of art depicting the Chariot of Apollo and Aurora. This artwork belongs to the museum’s collection and, for the first time, is exposed to the public. The artwork is drawn from the homonymous fresco of the painter Guido Reni from Bologna (1575-1642).

In the Sala Polvani it is possible to visit the collection of XX century paintings of the Provincia di Lecco. This exposition is curated by Anna Ranzi, the Curator of the Villa Monastero House Museum.

In the House Museum, from 29th July until 2nd October, there is the exhibition “Sulle tracce del monastero, tra Cinquecento e Settecento”:  an important series of Lombard paintings from private collections.
