Mother’s Day: Initiatives at Villa Monastero

On the occasion of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10, the Province of Lecco is offering mothers accompanied by their children the opportunity to enjoy free admission to the House Museum and the Botanical Garden of Villa Monastero in Varenna. The free ticket is available exclusively at the ticket office; it is not possible to purchase it online.

Furthermore, at 4:00 PM, the family workshop “Natural Bonds” will be held. Curated by CoopCulture as part of the Villakids educational program, the workshop offers a journey among roses, palms, and medicinal plants that evoke a mother’s care. After observing the Botanical Garden, the frottage technique will be used to create a “Heart Herbarium,” a simple and affectionate gift for mothers.

The workshop lasts 90 minutes and requires a reservation (maximum 20 participants) at a cost of 10 euros, in addition to the entrance ticket, which is free for mothers accompanied by their children and for children up to 14 years old.

“We wish to offer mothers the opportunity to spend their special day with their children, a special occasion to experience and discover one of the most evocative places in our territory,” comments the President of the Province of Lecco, Alessandra Hofmann. “Free admission represents an open invitation to all families to share quality moments in a context of extraordinary beauty, where nature, culture, and history intertwine. The ‘Natural Bonds’ initiative aims to enhance the relationship between parents and children through creative and participatory experiences, stimulating respect for and knowledge of the environment. We strongly believe that events like this contribute to strengthening the sense of community and promoting our cultural heritage in an inclusive and accessible way.”
