Tickets purchased are non-refundable and cannot be modified. Therefore, it is not possible to request a change of the visit date.
The Province of Lecco reserves the right to authorize a refund exclusively in cases where Villa Monastero is forced to close, either totally or partially, due to force majeure or local, national, or international emergency situations that prevent it from opening to the public.
Personal circumstances affecting the visitor, or external events that do not result in the closure of Villa Monastero, do not entitle the visitor to a refund or a change of date. These include, by way of example and not limitation, transport strikes, travel delays, traffic disruptions, or other similar circumstances.
The ticket is valid for a single admission only. Once you leave Villa Monastero, re-entry with the same ticket is not permitted.
Please note that the entrance time indicated on the ticket is not binding.
The day on the on line ticket is binding but the time is not binding so you can use your ticket at any time during opening hours so long as the day stays the same.

The dimensions of the docking platform are given below: width 6.30 m x 2.70 m, connected to another platform on the ground by a footbridge 1.10 m wide and 6.50 m long.
The boat cannot remain moored at the dock during the visit / photo shoot or marriage proposal.

- Other free admission obtainable exclusively at the ticket office: BIRTHDAY: free admission on your birthday. To take advantage of the free admission, you must show an ID at ticket office; VALENTINE’S DAY: 2 FOR 1 admission for all couples presenting at the ticket office. The promotion is not valid for groups; INTERNATIONAL WOMAN’S DAY: free admission for all woman on International Woman’s day (March 8). The promotion is not valid for groups; FATHER’S DAY: free admission for all fathers and children (free admission applies to fathers and children). It is possible to access Villa Monastero with a 50% discount on the full ticket upon presentation of the Il Viandante sul lago travel ticket during the validity period of the ticket.
The ticket Il Viandante sul lago offers the train journey from all over Lombardy to Lecco and navigation on the ports between Lecco and Colico. The 1 day-ticket costs 29 euros; the 2-days ticket costs 48 euros.

Transport information
CHANGES TO TRAFFIC FLOW IN THE HISTORIC CENTRE OF VARENNA AND TO FERRY BOARDING/DISEMBARKING OPERATIONS
We kindly invite visitors to Villa Monastero to take note of the following municipal regulations currently in force regarding traffic flow in the historic centre of Varenna.
A one-way traffic system, in the south-to-north direction, is hereby established along Viale Giovanni Polvani, Via IV Novembre, Piazza San Giorgio, and Via Corrado Venini every Saturday and Sunday of the year 2026, from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, and throughout the entire summer period (from June 20 to September 6), daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In the streets of the historic centre of Varenna (Via Corrado Venini, Piazza San Giorgio, Via IV Novembre, Viale Polvani), minibuses, buses and tourist coaches are prohibited from driving throughout the year.
A one-way traffic system, in the south-to-north direction, is also established along Viale Giovanni Polvani, Via IV Novembre, Piazza San Giorgio, and Via Corrado Venini on the following public holidays:

We therefore recommend using public transport to reach the town of Varenna.

WHERE TO PARK IN VARENNA
There are several paid parking options available in Varenna:

Piazza della Stazione and Malpensata area: €2.00 per hour (payable from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily, including Sundays and holidays). Daily rate: €18.00. Payment is possible via the EasyPark app using code 16530.

Near the Ferry Terminal (Olivedo area) – Blue Lines: €2.00 per hour (payable from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, including Sundays and holidays). Minimum rate: €1.00 for 30 minutes. Daily maximum: €20.00. Payment is possible via the EasyPark app using code 19267.

Multi-story Parking Garage (Autosilos) in front of Villa Cipressi: €3.00 per hour for the first two hours, then €2.00 per hour thereafter. Daily rate: €25.00.

Fiumelatte area (opposite the fish hatchery) – Blue Lines: €1.50 per hour (payable from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, including Sundays and holidays). Minimum rate: €0.50 for 30 minutes. Daily maximum: €15.00. Payment is possible via the EasyPark app using code 19266.
Important regulations

Yellow Lines: Parking is STRICTLY RESERVED FOR RESIDENTS with a clearly displayed permit.

Free Parking: Available along Viale Polvani, which runs alongside the Villa Monastero gardens (indicated by white lines).
Parking for people with disabilities
Reserved parking spaces for disabled badge holders are located within the village (ferry terminal area, near the Town Hall, and outside the multi-story parking garage).

If reserved spots are full: Disabled drivers may also park free of charge in the blue-lined spaces, provided their permit is clearly displayed. (Note: Parking in yellow-lined resident spaces is strictly prohibited).

ZTL Access (Limited Traffic Zone): Disabled badge holders may access and park within the ZTL in Piazza S. Giorgio. It is required to notify the local police (either in advance or the following day) of the vehicle’s entry, providing the license plate number and a copy of the permit via email to: polizia.locale@comune.varenna.lc.it
Accredited Operators Villa Monastero
Commercial operators (travel agencies, tour operators, accommodation facilities, etc.) can apply for accreditation as authorized operators for the purchase and pre-purchase of admission tickets to Villa Monastero. To obtain accreditation, it is necessary to sign the specific agreement with Società Cooperativa Culture, the company awarded the contract for the integrated museum services at Villa Monastero.
Interested operators may send their request to sign the agreement to the service manager’s email address, trade@coopculture.it, specifying in the subject line: “Request for Agreement – Inclusion in the Villa Monastero Operators Register”.
Access by boats
- The dock is suitable only for small boats (e.g., the taxi boat).
- The use of the dock is free of charge.
- It is possible to arrange only the arrival by boat, only the departure, or both, for a simple visit, a photo shoot, or a marriage proposal.
- The dock can only be used for arrival and departure in relation to the photo shoot, marriage proposal, or visit. It is not possible, for example, to do a photo shoot, leave by boat for a tour, and then dock again at Villa Monastero. In such cases, it will be necessary to dock elsewhere and make appropriate arrangements. (For example, if you arrive by car and park in the multi-storey parking lot in front of Villa Monastero, and then disembark at the Varenna pier, you will need to walk a distance of about 15 minutes.)
- If you arrive by boat for a simple visit, it is recommended to purchase your ticket online in advance, as the ticket office is far from the dock.
- For photo shoots and marriage proposals, the request to use the dock must be made at the time of booking. However, it is also possible (For example, if you arrive by boat for a simple visit, without a reservation) to request access to the dock upon arrival by calling 0341 830129.
- The boat cannot remain moored at the dock during the visit / photo shoot or marriage proposal.
Press Accreditation
Journalists wishing to visit Villa Monastero for the purpose of writing an article may enjoy free admission. Press passes can be collected at the ticket office, subject to prior authorization from the Province of Lecco.
To obtain accreditation, you must complete the accreditation request form and send it to ufficiostampa@provincia.lecco.it, along with a copy of your Press Card (Order of Journalists) featuring a valid stamp for the current year. Requests must be submitted at least 2 working days prior to the planned date of the visit.
Once email confirmation is received, the press pass can be collected directly at the Villa’s ticket office during opening hours.
Accreditation is granted exclusively to journalists and does not extend to family members or companions.
Please note: The issuance of a press pass does not authorize professional video or photographic filming inside Villa Monastero. For such activities, a specific permit must be requested separately.
Other services
Possibility of using some spaces of Villa Monastero for photo and video shoots (both commercial and for private use) and for fiction, upon reservation and by paying a fee.
