The third and last Author’s Walk has seen great participation on Saturday 30 September.

The path, called Varenna anno mille, started from Villa Monastero to Vezio Castle, via the parish church of San Giorgio.

Pietro Berra, journalist, and writer took the many participants along the cultural path following the traces of Queen Teodolinda and of authors who had narrated the involvement of Varenna during the war between Como and Milan (1118-1127), and the re-foundation of Varenna by the exiles from the Comacina island in 1169. Participants could appreciate the readings of Lorena Mantovanelli.

The initiative, as part of the project Sulle orme dei Plinii, is one of the activities of the project Valorizzazione dell’identità del giardino storico di Villa Monastero funded by the European Uninion NextGenerationEU with the Pnrr M1C3 Investimento 2.3 Programmi per valorizzare l’identità dei luoghi: parchi e giardini storici.

The President of the Province of Lecco Alessandra Hofmann and the Provincial councilor delegated to Culture and Cultural Heritage, Tourism, Villa Monastero Fiorenza Albani said “This valorization action allowed many people to appreciate the beauty of the territory, know better the botanical Garden of Villa Monastero and other local peculiarities of historical, landscape and cultural interest. The three Author’s Walk allowed more than 300 participants to get in touch with Villa Monastero, its history, cultural heritage, and the unique surroundings”.

The association Sentiero dei Sogni, specialized in the narration of the territories, created the cultural paths.
