The Province of Lecco with Villa Monastero takes part in the Rete dell’800 Lombardo, the network that brings together institutions that recognize their identity in the artistic and cultural heritage of the 19th century in Lombardy.
As part of the Network’s initiatives, Study Days were held on the 22nd and 23rd of October at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum and Castello Sforzesco, entitled Le arti applicate in Lombardia nell’Ottocento: artisti, collezionisti, esposizioni e musei (The Applied Arts in Lombardy in the Nineteenth Century: Artists, Collectors, Exhibitions and Museums).
Villa Monastero was present at the conference with the contribution of Alice Martignon (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice) Tra Venezia e Lombardia: mercato e collezionismo di arti applicate antiche e “in stile” fra medio Ottocento e primo Novecento. Villa Monastero e altri casi studio, in which the musealized collections that include important furnishings made by Guggenheim visible to the public at the Villa are illustrated.
Her speech had significant feedback: on that occasion, it was pointed out that the in-depth study on Guggenheim was addressed by the same scholar in the 2019 Villa Monastero Notebook Da Palazzo Balbi a Villa Monastero: la Sala Nera e il suo eclettico progettista (From Palazzo Balbi to Villa Monastero: the Black Room and its eclectic designer), which will be made available to all museums of the Rete dell’800 Lombardo.
