“Ville Aperte” in Brianza: Autumn Edition from September 20 to October 5

“Ville Aperte” in Brianza, promoted by the Province of Monza and Brianza, returns with the autumn edition from September 20 to October 5, featuring three weekends of special openings and numerous events.

“Ville Aperte once again proves to be a unique opportunity to learn about, promote, and enhance the historical, artistic, and landscape heritage of our local communities, thanks to the involvement of an increasingly extensive network of public and private partners,” comment Alessandra Hofmann, President of the Province of Lecco, and Silvia Bosio, Provincial Councilor for Culture and Cultural Heritage. “Every year, additional sites are added to the already rich catalog of places to visit, offering the public new opportunities to discover hidden spaces. A heartfelt and well-deserved thanks to the Province of Monza and Brianza, which with strong commitment and availability manages and coordinates this beautiful integrated cultural initiative every year.”

This year again, the Province of Lecco participates with Villa Monastero in Varenna, a complex consisting of an eclectic late 19th-century residence and its Botanical Garden, made even more evocative by important enhancement and redevelopment works.

Villa Monastero will open its doors to visitors on September 20-21, September 27-28, and October 4-5, offering reduced admission tickets. During this time, visitors can explore the House Museum and exhibition space featuring a show dedicated to fashion designer Ken Scott, a result of fruitful collaboration with the Ken Scott Foundation, which provided access to its extraordinary historical archive for a thematic selection on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Province of Lecco. This new exhibit presents flowers and essences designed for fashion, chosen in relation to the Villa and its garden, along with clothing and accessories inspired by the creativity, color sense, and modern spirit that characterized Ken Scott’s entire production since the 1950s.

This year, 57 sites across the Province of Lecco participate in the event, located in 28 municipalities, including 2 new entries, ranging from museums, religious buildings, small villages, and other cultural and natural sites, alongside historic residences. There are 14 new features, including 8 sites open for the first time (3 in Oggiono, 1 in Osnago, 1 in Imbersago, 1 in Colle Brianza, 1 in Casatenovo, 1 in Barzanò) and 6 new itineraries (1 in Bellano, 2 in Casatenovo, 2 in Ello, 1 in Paderno d’Adda).

Among the open sites in the Province of Lecco are other museum locations belonging to the Lecco Museum System: the Orrido and Ca’ del Diavol in Bellano, the Monti Civic Silk Museum in Abbadia Lariana, the Barro Archaeological Museum, the Ethnographic Museum of Alta Brianza and the gardens of Villa Bertarelli in Galbiate, the Abegg Silk Museum in Garlate, the Blessed Serafino Morazzone Museum with the Church of San Giovanni Battista in the Chiuso district of Lecco, Villa Confalonieri and the Mozzanica Foundation in Merate, Villa Greppi in Monticello Brianza, the Mud in Oggiono, and the Botanical Garden in Valmadrera.

New additions include the Canonica of San Salvatore in Barzanò, the Bellano Art and Nature itinerary in Bellano, the Church of Santa Margherita in Casatenovo, and the itineraries from Santa Giustina to Villa Facchi in Casatenovo, combining history, art, and popular devotion, the Hermitage of San Genesio in Colle Brianza, the Urban Museum and Pilgrimage itinerary from the Church of Sant’Agata in Oggiono to the Church of Santi Giacomo e Filippo in Ello, Leonardo da Vinci’s Ferry in Imbersago, the Church of the Lazaretto, the Church of San Lorenzo, and the Church of Sant’Agata in Oggiono, Casa Bonomi in Osnago, and the Dance of Saint Michael and surroundings itinerary in Paderno d’Adda.
