The Coordination of Villas and Museums of Lake Como is born

Villa del Grumello in Como was the venue for the presentation of the Lake Como Villas and Museums Coordination, established to promote and foster the cultural growth of the Lake Como area.

It is composed of 12 cultural institutions of excellence in the area and operates with the support of the Camera di Commercio di Como-Lecco. The following Lake Como villas and museums are the protagonists: Bellano Arte Cultura, Casa Brenna Tosatto, Museo Barca Lariana, Museo della Seta, Museo del Paesaggio, Villa Bernasconi, Villa Carlotta, Villa del Balbianello, Villa del Grumello, Villa Melzi D’Eril, Villa Monastero and Villa Pizzo.

In addition to the goals of promotion and deseasonalization, the Coordination wants to encourage the relocation of the attractiveness on cultural places to offer a better and more varied visiting experience, supporting the development of sustainable and responsible tourism, which favors the preservation and protection of the artistic and landscape resources of the Lario area.

The Coordination is the sharing of ideas, resources, skills and experiences that those involved make available in partnership, thus enhancing the impact of their actions, strengthening the ability to reach a wide audience and stimulating the development of cultural tourism in Lake Como.

On Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of October, the Coordination presented itself to the public with a special weekend,  with a rich program of events and activities, designed to involve residents and tourists, for example with walks through historic gardens, museum tours, educational workshops for children, family activities, and special openings.

To stimulate a wide participation in that weekend, a real passport was created, which was available at each location. Each visitor was able to register attendance and earn a prize upon passing five individual stamps/access to five different villas and museums and proposed activities.

When Villa Monastero will reopen, currently closed for cleaning, restoration operations and safety checks after bad weather in recent days, the Province of Lecco will give a prize to the first 30 visitors who show up the passport.
